Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
--Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 'This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
--Matthew 22:37-39
We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.
--I John 1:3-4

New Hope Church of the Nazarene recently went on a Work & Witness trip to Guatemala. Here is a brief discription of the trip writen by Pastor Scott and shared with the people of New Hope:
I want to share with you the miraculous things God did through our team while we were in Guatemala:
We successfully demolished a concrete wall that was the only barrier preventing the Chisec Church of the Nazarene from moving into their newly built sanctuary space. We moved several tons of rock, concrete, and lumber out of the pastor’s training center and we began to stucco the walls of the training center. We ran electricity to the toilets and showers of the training center. We conducted a Bible School that ministered to over 300 children each day while we were in Chisec. We constructed a pre-fabricated steel church structure in a little village about 45 miles from Chisec while some of our team taught a one-day bible class to over 100 children. I had the opportunity to preach in five different villages and literally hundreds responded to the gospel message. I taught 5 pastor’s training classes to over 50 pastors and I had the opportunity to dedicate one baby girl named Elizabeth. The nurse we brought with us, Mary Anna Schuchman, was able to treat many medical needs while we were there. Our team commissioned a Guatemalan Work & Witness team from the Santa Marta Church of the Nazarene by laying hands on them and praying God’s blessing on them. We brought with us literally thousands of dollars worth of tools and supplies that we left with the ministry in Guatemala. We also left our bedding and bathroom towels to be used in the Pastor’s Training Center.
These are a few of the things God accomplished through our efforts. However, this doesn’t even touch the surface of the many lives that were changed by the friendships that were developed.
As you can see, God used our team in a powerful way to make a difference in Guatemala. But, as much as we gave of ourselves to the people of Guatemala, those people gave so much more to us. We came home with a different outlook on life. We were transformed by God renewing our minds and hearts through His powerful love expressed by the people we met in Guatemala. None of us will ever be the same.
